#AmanKampus 2 : 'Aman Kampus' To Engage Students Nationwide... @NajibRazak @Saifuddinabd

KUALA LUMPUR: In the midst of recent debates surrounding university students' involvement in politics, 19 student non-governmental organisations will embark on a nationwide tour to engage with the public on national issues.

"Aman Kampus", an initiative by Persatuan Alumni Pemimpin Mahasiswa Aspirasi Malaysia (Aspirasi), plans to start the tour in the middle of this month to provide students an insight on government policies.

Aspirasi president Mohd Shahar Abdullah said they would visit 25 higher-learning institutions in two weeks.

"There will also be motivational talks, gotong-royong and educational forums with schoolchildren," he said yesterday.

Present were secretary-general of Gagasan Pendidikan Melayu Malaysia Syed Anuar Syed Mohamad, Jaringan Melayu Malaysia president Azwanddin Hamzah and 1Malaysia Indian Student Movement president Mahaganapathy Dass.

Shahar said the tour would end with more than 16,000 students at a peaceful assembly, attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"There will be a question-and-answer session with the prime minister and students can voice their issues during the tour."

Shahar also advised students to always consider their future before taking part in politics.

"The action of minority groups will affect the image of all university students and this tour seeks to address this issue.

"Students must remember that when they get involved in politics, they can get carried away and this can affect their studies."

He said they should exercise their rights through proper channels.
